The Beginning

1999

Professor Ricardo picked up Martial Arts at a young age. He started with Taekwondo until Jiu Jitsu arrived in his hometown of Torres, Brazil. He immediately transitioned over and hasn’t looked back since.

The early days of his Jiu Jitsu career were at the Lotus Club before he moved to the United States in 2005. By the end of March 2006, he dug his roots into Los Angeles where he began training under Rickson and Kron Gracie.

Rickson and Kron Gracie Academy

2006

In March 2006, Ricardo was a Blue Belt and was a regular member of Rickson’s Academy. At the same time, Ricardo got into the competition scene with some 2nd place finishes at IBJJF Worlds as a Blue Belt and the Saulo Ribeiro - Gracie invitational and US Gracie Nationals as a Purple Belt.

As Ricardo got further in his training, he realized his love for teaching. He saw how Jiu-Jitsu had improved his own quality of life by reducing stress, boosting his self-confidence, and ultimately making him a better human being. He wanted to share this with others. He took up coaching at Kron Gracie’s Academy and eventually became the head instructor.

A New Challenge

2021

After years of working at Kron’s, the academy was moved to Bozeman, Montana in late 2020. Ricardo saw a need for the type of Jiu Jitsu he had been trained within the Los Angeles area.

In 2021, Ricardo took the leap to start his own school built on the foundations he learned from Rickson and Kron. He continues to use Jiu Jitsu as a means to help people in their daily lives.
